All proceeds from the fundraiser goes to the MDA’s Alaska Chapter, which serves 140 families across the state. The funds raised helps pay for children with muscular dystrophy to attend a week long summer camp in Birchwood, Alaska. It also helps pay for clinic visits, wheelchair repairs and loaner wheelchairs.
Boom Town Derby Dames and your local Firefighters will be collecting money in front of the Wasilla Fred Meyer's to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters across the country have teamed up to raise money for MDA for the past six decades. Departments in Alaska began participating in the nationwide event about 25 years ago.
